Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community which is situated on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. People who aren't familiar with this name believe the West Island extends westward from Montreal. However the West Island includes everything westward of that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island, although this isn't the case. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. Initial plans were to be an actor, however she grew beyond her dance partners. In an article published in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. When I grew out of my male partners, I quit. In Brugel's case, it was the guidance of a drama teacher from her high school which inspired her to begin acting. Her teacher advised her to participate in the school's production. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the school's annual play. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received an Associate's Degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. In the last 20 years her career has seen her in more than 60 shows and films. The role she was most famous for was as Rita (shown in the video below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member in Season 1 of the show and was rarely seen.
